Last Saturday, October 17, we ran Move for Hope 2026, a fun run hosted by Julius K. Quiambao Medical and Wellness Center for Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The invitation came from a high school classmate who now heads the hospital’s Oncology Department.
The Route
There were three distances: 3KM, 5KM, and 10KM. The route ran along the highway and looped around the hospital building. The hills made it a bit harder than I expected from a fun run, but it was manageable, and we finished the 10KM.

The People Who Showed Up
In her speech, Dr. Jaarmy Rebugio announced that next year’s run will add a 21KM route. I was also glad to learn that many of the runners were healthcare workers, cancer warriors, and survivors. It made the run feel different from the usual, like it was actually for something.
I hope the organizers also add a charity component next year, with donations that could benefit indigent cancer patients.

Runs With a Cause
The major runs in the Philippines are very capitalistic. I wish more runners would support runs like this one, runs with a cause that raise awareness for something important.
